Main areas of the most frequently asked questions:

Searching for exhibits on EXPONET

How can I search for exhibits?

Exhibits are selected in the catalogue using the filter panel. It offers four criteria – territory, subject classification, time period and EXPONET exhibition class – each with three levels of detail. The criteria can be combined freely; the list of exhibits adapts immediately. The search box searches exhibit titles and exhibitor names.

You can also browse exhibits by exhibitor's country, by exhibitor's name or by registration number. Regular visitors will appreciate the list of the newest exhibits and the list of the most visited exhibits.

How do I easily find all thematic exhibits?

In the selection by EXPONET exhibition class choose Thematic philately class at the top level. Within the extended concept of exhibition classes we also include some open-class exhibits with thematic content here.

How do I easily find all postal-history exhibits of a certain country?

In the catalogue choose the continent and the country (or even a part of it) in the territory criterion and, at the same time, Postal history class in the EXPONET exhibition class criterion.

Use the browser's "back" button or the breadcrumb link above the exhibit title. The chosen filters are part of the page address, so you can bookmark or share the selection.

I am interested in a topic that I cannot find among your categories. Could you add it?

Thank you for your suggestion; we will consider adding the proposed category. Please note, however, that exhibits more or less related to your topic can be found in the existing categories with related subjects; when preparing their structure we tried to cover as many of the topics most often represented in exhibits as possible. We also place exhibits in several categories, even when they fit only partly, so that they are accessible to as many interested visitors as possible. Exhibits that fit none of the categories are listed as "other". If you find an exhibit that you are convinced should be placed in another existing category, please let us know.

I found an exhibit that should also be placed in another category.

Thank you for your suggestion; we will check and add the classification of the exhibit in the proposed category. Classifying exhibits is undoubtedly a subjective matter and with the number of exhibits we process we could easily have made a mistake.

Among the thematic exhibits I found some that do not correspond to thematic exhibits in the way they are prepared.

Thank you for your suggestion; we will check the classification of the exhibits in this category. Please note, however, that we try to place every exhibit also in categories that it fits only partly. Our intention is to show collectors also material that may relate to the topic only marginally and thus inspire them to use it. EXPONET is not a competitive exhibition and therefore need not strictly meet the FIP criteria.

Viewing exhibits on EXPONET

How do I view an exhibit?

Clicking the exhibit title shows its basic data, its classification into categories and the thumbnails of the sheets of the first exhibition frame. The navigation above the sheets moves between frames. Clicking any sheet opens it enlarged.

How do I browse an exhibit?

In the enlarged view you move to the neighbouring sheets with the arrows at the sides or the ← and → keys; browsing stays within the displayed frame. Close the view with the cross, the Esc key or by clicking outside the sheet.

Can individual sheets be enlarged and shown in a higher resolution?

Yes, the enlarged view shows the sheet in a width of up to 1280 pixels (depending on the quality of the supplied scan). On a touch device the sheet can be zoomed further with a gesture.

Exhibiting on EXPONET

I would like to exhibit my exhibit on EXPONET; what do I have to do?

We will be glad to exhibit your exhibit on EXPONET. See How to exhibit for the procedure and the technical specifications for the scan requirements. Please bear in mind, however, that your exhibit should be interesting for other visitors in some way.

What are the fees for exhibiting on EXPONET?

Exhibiting on EXPONET is free of charge.

Does an exhibit have to meet the criteria of competitive exhibitions?

The advantage of EXPONET is that it does not. Please bear in mind, however, that your exhibit should be interesting for other visitors in some way. For example, we gladly publish exhibits that describe some interesting areas of philately in detail even though neither their form nor their size would be acceptable at competitive exhibitions.

I do not want my name to be published; is that possible?

Yes, exhibits can also be shown anonymously.

Can I place several of my exhibits on EXPONET?

You can; the number of exhibits of one author is not limited.

What is the prescribed number of sheets for an exhibit?

The number of sheets is not limited in any way. Please bear in mind, however, that your exhibit should be interesting for other visitors in some way.
