Nìmecko / Germany / Deutschland  OLYMPISCHE SOMMERSPIELE 1896-1932, vielfach GOLDPRÄMIERTE AUSSTELLUNGSSAMMLUNG: Bd. 1 "Entstehung und Spiele bis England 1908", enthält Autographen, Griechenland 1896 Marken (auch komplett auf offiziellen Umschlägen mit rotem Komitee-SST), Abarten, Fiskalverwendungen, Aufbrauchsausgabe, Markenbogen, Bedarfspost, Sonderstempel, Probedrucke, ungezähnte Marken, Postamt in Olympia. Bd. 2 "Schweden 1912 bis Frankreich 1924", enthält Hand- und Maschinensonderstempel, Comité-Stempel, Belgien 1920 ungezähnte Marken, Sonder- und Werbestempel, Abarten, Überdruckausgabe. Frankreich 1924, Vierblocks, Abarten, Ersttagsbriefe, Bedarfspost, Druckvorlagen, Probedrucke, Ganzsachen, vielfältige Sonderstempel. Bd. 3 "Französische Mandatsgebiete 1924 - USA 1932", enthält Syrien- und Libanon-Überdruckausgaben mit etlichen Abarten, Unikaten, Uruguay 1./2. Gedenkausgabe, CSR 1925 Marken, Werbestempel, Druckproben, Ganzsachen, Niederlande 1928 Marken, Briefe, Abarten, Entwürfe, Proben, Sonderstempel, Ganzsachen, Portugal und Uruguay Marken, Geschenkheft, USA Marken, Vignette, Sonderstempel, Briefe. Ebenso bemerkenswert auch z.B. ein Brief des Archäologen Ernst Curtis (dessen Arbeit die Idee der Neuzeitlichen Spiele überhaupt erst angestoßen hat) über seine Ausgrabungen in Olympia! Auch ein Autogramm von Pierre de Coubertin. Ferner Bildkarten und Motivbelege, Satzbriefe, Druckproben und Vorlagebogen, ungezähnte Werte, auch Zwischenstegeinheiten u.v.a.m. Fazit: Eine vom Sammler mit enormer Ausdauer und finanziellem Einsatz bravourös angelegte Spitzensammlung, die lt renommierter IMOS-Mitglieder (und ebenso unserer eigenen Meinung) das z.Zt. weltweit hochwertigste erhältliche Objekt diese Art darstellt! Zuletzt in Athen während der Olympischen Spiele 2004 ausgestellt.

Vol 2 "Sweden 1912 to France 1924", includes hand and machine cancels, committee cancels, Belgium 1920 imperfs, specials cancels, varieties, overprints. France 1924, blocks of four, varieties, FDC, commercial covers, drafts, samples, stationery cards, many different cancels. Vol 3, "French mandate Areas 1924 - USA 1932", includes Syria and Lebanon commemoratives, also several varieties, unique misprints, Uruguay 1st / 2nd commemorative issue, Czecho-Slovakian 1925 commemoratives, special cancels, proofs, stationery cards, Netherlands 1928 commemoratives, covers, varieties, drafts, proofs, special cancels, stationery cards, Portugal and Uruguay commemoratives, presentation booklet, USA commemoratives, advertising label, special cancels, covers. Other important items: For instance a letter of the famous archaeologist Ernst Curtis (whose work inspired the idea of the revival of the Olympic games) dealing with his work on the archaeological site of Olympia! Furthermore, an autograph by Pierre de Coubertin, picture cards and topical items, postal history, sets of covers, proofs and imperfs, large block units and unusual gutter pairs. Summary: An incredible collection, built during many years with utmost diligence and financial exposure. Top item in every aspect. Following the appraisal of several well renowned IMOS members (as well as our own opinion) the most attractive collection of its kind currently on sale. This collection has been exhibited in public last on the occasion of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
