Further information: Deeply specialised collection of the 3rd Medaillon issue, comprising more than 1.500 stamps (incl. units). This marvellous collection shows all the distinctive features of this popular issue like different papers (thickness, ribbed paper), colours/shades, plates, varieties, plate flaws, marginal and corner copies, superb copies with parts of adjoining stamps, units up to blocks of 4 (also on cover)/strip of 4, watermark positions, sheet margin sets, paper folds (incl. very distinctive ones), plate stages/printings, a great diversity of numeral cancellations (8bar, 14bar, 17bar, 18bar, railroad, points), also a nice section covers with attractive frankings and rates, incl. a cover dated 4 Jan 1851 (which leads to the conclusion that this issue must have been available to the public in the latter part of 1850) etc. Undoubtfully an outstanding and most valuable collection!
